When kids see you playing pool they often want to play too. However, if you are anything like my parents, you don’t want your kids to mess up your expensive pool table. So, a good compromise would be to get a small kids’ pool table so they have their own place to play.
Kid’s pool tables are way less expensive than a good full-size adult pool table. A good adult pool table can cost anywhere from a couple thousand dollars to 9 or 10 thousand dollars if not more. When you make such a large investment on a good pool table, you don’t want your kids to destroy it. That’s 100% understandable but how will they ever learn if you don’t let them play.
Pool tables for children can cost as little as $100 for a small pool table or a couple of hundred dollars if you want a little bit better of a table. These small pool tables can be used to teach a child the basics before promoting them to the adult table.
If you don’t already have a nice adult pool table, there’s another option that you have. You can purchase a low-end pool table so that if your kids mess it up you won’t be too upset. There are multiple low budget pool tables that you can find for less than $2,000 and even some that are just several hundred. You can check out my list of the best budget pool tables by clicking here.
If you’re looking for a small & cheap pool table for your kids then the list below will be your best bet. I’ve compiled a comprehensive list of the best small pool tables for kids. Some are multi-functional and others are just pool tables.
The multi-functional ones tend to be a little more expensive, but if your child is interested in ping pong, air hockey, or the other games included, it may be worth getting the multi-functional pool table so you don’t have to buy another game table in the future.

2. Rack Vega Mini Folding Pool Table Review

Pros
- Lifetime Warranty
- Free Shipping
- K66 Cushions
- Folding Table
- Value
- 6 foot pool table
Cons
- Net Pockets
The Rack Vega Mini Pool Table is a great pool table for kids. It is the perfect size, portable and easy to store. Rack is a company that makes a ton of different pool supplies such as pool racks, adult pool tables, and other mini pool tables similar to this one. They make very good products at an affordable price.
Unlike many mini tables, this table is good for the whole family. It’s just the right size for people of all ages to comfortably play on. So, you don’t have to leave anyone out with this table. It’s a great pool table for the whole family. However, if you’re a competitive pool player, I’d say it may be a little too small for a competitive game.
This folding pool table is well designed and very similar to a standard pool table. They integrated K66 cushions, blended wool felt, leg levelers, drop pockets and much more.
K66 cushions are the industry standard when it comes full size tables. They deliver the best rebound and consistency. K66 cushions are also very durable. You won’t be disappointed with these cushions.
Built in table levelers are great especially with a portable table! You can level the table on the fly so you never have to worry about the balls rolling uneven on the table.
Blended wool felt is common on full sized pool tables. It isn’t the best felt you can buy but it is a good middle ground, especially since this pool table is mainly for kids to learn on.
Overall, this pool table is a great pool table for kids. Your kids won’t be disappointed and I’m sure you’ll enjoy playing with your kids on this pool table too!

3. Hathaway Spartan 6′ Pool Table Review

Pros
- realistic design
- accessories included
- 2 in 1 ping pong & pool
- 6 foot pool table
Cons
- Assembly Required
Here’s our number 4 pick the Hathaway Spartan Pool Table with a ping pong conversion. As mentioned in our number 1 pick (the Hathaway Fairmont Pool Table), Hathaway is a great brand. They make a ton of different pool tables but they don’t specialize in high-end pool tables, they specialize in good quality, affordable pool tables. That’s why they’re on this list twice. Their tables are perfect for kids and non-competitive players.
This table comes with everything you need to get started playing. For pool, it comes with a full set of balls, 2 sticks, chalk, a rack and a brush. For ping pong, it comes with the table top conversion, net, balls, and paddles. So you don’t have to worry about getting extra equipment. You’ll be ready to play on arrival.
The style of this table is amazing, your kids will feel like they’re playing pool on a real adult pool table. The construction and design is similar to many bar pool tables. It has the metal corners by the corner pockets, with a black frame and metal stands at the bottom of the legs. The felt is a beautiful red color that makes it pop.
The Spartan pool table does not come assembled like many of the other tables on this list but assembly should be a breeze. The one’s that come fully assembled are usually the folding tables, so if you don’t want to deal with assembly check out one of the folding tables on this list.
This Hathaway pool table has a 6 ft long playing field. A 6 ft table is just a tiny bit smaller than a pool table you’ll find in many bars and clubs. So, it will feel great for you to play on this table with your kids. When you start getting smaller than 6 foot it is hard for adults to actually enjoy playing on the pool table.

4. RACK Bolton 5.5 Foot Pool Table Review

Pros
- Sturdy Design
- Accessories Included
- Family Friendly
- Lifetime Warranty
- Free Shipping
Cons
- Price
Rack makes great inexpensive pool tables. They are also the company that made my number 2 pick, the Rack Vega Folding Pool Table. The Rack Bolton is not a folding table but it is one of the most sturdy and well made tables on this list.
When you look at it, you can just tell it’s a solid table unlike many of the other tables on this list. However, it’s hard to make a folding table with strong legs like this one because it would be heavy and too hard to maneuver.
This Rack Pool Table features a 5.5 foot playing field for a balance between size and usability for children. It stands at 31″ high so children of all ages except babies can play on it. If you’re looking for a product for small children check out my number 8 pick the haxTON pool table. It’s great for small children because it can lay on the floor.
This pool table does require a bit of assembly upon arrival, but instructions are included and assembly is very easy. You’ll be up and playing in no time at all.
As with many of the other kids’ pool tables, all accessories needed to play are included so there is no need to run to the store or order extra items with this pool table. Once it’s assembled you’re all ready to play.
One thing that isn’t convenient about this table is how it is stored. While it is smaller than a standard table, you’ll still need somewhere to store this table because it doesn’t fold down like others on this list.
If you don’t have somewhere to keep the table set up, I’d recommend a folding pool table.
This is one of the best kids billiards tables on this list. You definitely won’t be disappointed.

5. Costzon Folding Billiard Table for Kids Review

Pros
- Folding Table
- Accessories Included
- Leg Levelers
- Multiple colors
Cons
- Net Pockets
The Costzon Folding Billiard Table is another great pool table for kids. It’s a bit smaller than the other foldable pool tables on this list but it is a great balance between size and use for all ages. The bigger or smaller the table is the fewer kids will be able to use it. If it’s too big, young kids will have a harder time playing on it and if it’s too small, your child will grow out of it too fast. If you want a good middle ground, around 4-5 ft is perfect.
If you’re looking for a cheap pool table for your kids, this is a great choice.
This table is 4 feet long and 2 feet wide, not too big but not too small. The table is made of an MDF board and comes with resin balls. MDF is a type of wood. MDF tables are common among inexpensive tables even with some adult tables. It isn’t the best play surface but you won’t find a better surface amongst kids pool tables.
In designing this pool table, Costzon tried to give it a realistic look by putting leather around the pockets and including the classic green felt. The felt is made of nylon which is cheaper than some of the previously mentioned tables but this felt is very durable and great for kids. Nicer felts tend to be thinner which means they can easily be torn. So this nylon felt is great for people just starting.
Don’t forget, this table is foldable but the legs are the only part that folds. The table doesn’t fold in half like a folding table but when the legs are folded it lays flat. So, when it folds flat you can store it easily and you can store it under the bed or in a closet.

6. Goplus 48 inch Billiard Table for Kids Review

Pros

- Price
Cons
- Not Foldable
- Net Pockets
The Goplus 48″ billiard table is a well-made kids pool table. GoPlus is a company that has high reviews on Amazon, they make all types of products including things such as games, exercise equipment, and tools. They specialize in high-quality products at a reasonable price. You can check out their other products here.
The Goplus 48 in pool table comes with an MDF table slab for great play while maintaining a maneuverable weight. As this is a child’s pool table, they want to keep it at a weight where a child can put it up and take it down at will.
The height of this table and the quality of the accessories are perfect for kids, you won’t be disappointed with this kids’ pool table. The pockets are coated with a leather wrap. The bottom of the legs have a leather padding to protect your hardwood and tile floors. They thought about the most important aspects of a kids pool table when designing this table.
This table is considered a mini pool table because it is only 1/3 the size of a full regulation pool table but this size makes it good for kids and a good table to learn on.
The Goplus billiards table comes with all accessories needed to start playing. You get a rack, full set of balls, 2 cue sticks, chalk, and a table brush. So after you attach the legs, you’re all ready to start playing.

7. HOMCOM 55″ Portable Folding Pool Table for Kids Review

Pros
- Folding Table
- Polyester Felt
- Accessories Included
- Leather Pocket Trime
Cons
- Some reviews stated it was un-level
The HOMCOM Portable Folding Table is a pretty good option for children. This table is compact, foldable and durable. HOMCOM is a huge brand on Amazon and they make all different types of quality items. Overall HOMCOM has very good reviews on Amazon and this folding pool table is no different. It has 4 stars on Amazon. Click the button at the bottom of this review to see more info on Amazon.
This mini pool table features a classic look with red leather pockets and light-colored wood as pictured above. It comes with everything you need to get started playing immediately. You receive 2 cue sticks, a cue ball, a set of balls, chalk, and a brush.
This pool table stands at 2.5′ high so it is the perfect height for most young children. With the green felt and realistic design, your child will feel like they’re playing on a small real pool table.

8. haxTON Pool Table for Kids Review

Pros
- For Small Kids
- Sturdy Design
- “Adjustable” Height
Cons
- Too Small For Most Kids
- Hard For Adults to Join
The haxTON Pool Table is a great pool table for small kids. This is ideal for kids under 4 years old. It lays on the floor or table and stands just a few inches off any surface you place it on. This allows the height to be adjustable but the length of the table will remain. As kids get older, you’ll need to transition them to one of the other kids’ pool tables on this list.
This style of pool table is ideal for smaller kids because they won’t be able to stand up high enough to play on a pool table that has long legs. This table has legs but they’re a few inches in length just so it doesn’t lay completely flat on the ground.
This small pool table comes with everything your child will need to get started. It comes with a full set of balls, a cue ball, cue sticks, a triangle, brush, and chalk. Your kid will feel like they’re a professional pool player.
If you want to get your child started playing pool from a very early age, this is a great pool table choice for them. If your child is a little bit older, I’d recommend getting a bigger pool table that is more realistic for them to play on.

9. EnjoyShop Pool Table for Kids Review

Pros
- Folding Table
Cons
- Similar to other item
- Price
The EnjoyShop Folding Pool table for kids is almost the exact same as my number 5 pick on this list. I honestly think they may be made by the same manufacturer but with a different brand. The reason I put this one lower on the list though is that it appears to be the same table but it costs an extra $40. I hate it when I see products like this. I more so put this one on this list as a warning for people looking for information on this product.
If you’re looking up the EnjoyShop Pool Table for kids check out the Costzon Folding Billiard Table for Kids. It appears to be the same product but cheaper. I don’t know for sure that it is the exact same product but it’s definitely worth checking out the Costzon Table.

10. IFOYO Billiard Table for Kids Review

Pros
- Folding Table
- Compact
Cons
- Poor Design
- Cheaply Made
- Sharp Edges
Last up on our list of the best billiard tables for kids is the IFOYO Billiard Table. I put this one last on the list because it just looks very cheaply made. Many of the other tables use similar materials but IFOYO didn’t do a good job of blending them together.
On other tables, they put design features to hide the sharp edges of the wood. While IFOYO just left all of the edges exposed. This is not very appealing to look at and could be a safety hazard for kids when playing. They could easily scratch themselves on the edges of the wood either while playing or just bumping into the table. Kids like to have fun and aren’t always aware of their surroundings. I feel they could’ve made better design choices to accommodate the children who use their pool table.
On the other hand, though, this table has a lot of the same features as other kids’ folding pool tables. It can be stored easily under a bed or pretty much anywhere. So, you don’t have to focus too hard on storage.
You can put the table up and take it down in seconds. So, you don’t need a dedicated game room like with some bigger pool tables.
The pockets are coated with leather to protect your child from getting hit with the ball if someone shoots hard. I feel that the leather should’ve connected to the wood better to cover up the edges.
Many of the reviews on this product state that it falls apart easily and isn’t durable. I don’t recommend this pool table but overall it has pretty good reviews. That is why I put it on the list. Many people are satisfied with this table but for the price, I feel there are better choices out there.

What To Look For When Choosing A Small Pool Table For Your Kids?
There are a lot of kid’s pool tables out there and it can get very hard to figure out which one is best for your child. Here are some of the most important things to consider when purchasing a pool table for your kids.
Storage
To me how the table will be stored is one of the most important aspects of a child’s pool table. My reasoning for this is that not every child has a game room that they can keep their pool table set up in 24/7. If your kid does have a game room then storage and size won’t be as big of a concern.
In my house when I was younger, if I got a kids’ pool table, I would have had to take it down every time I was finished playing with it. If I had a folding pool table, this would have been very easy but if I had a table where the legs had to be screwed on and off. I probably would have been too lazy to play on it most of the time. If this were the case I only would have used it when friends came over and it would have been a waste of money.
Depending on the arrangement of your home, you should take into consideration whether a folding table or a dedicated pool table would be best. Typically a dedicated table with screw-on legs will be more sturdy and durable.
Height
Height is very important too because if your child isn’t tall enough to see over the table, then it isn’t benefiting them and it will be hard for them to play. You should look at the height of the table and make sure your child is at least a foot to a foot and a half taller than the table.
For a toddler, you may want to look at a tabletop pool table. The haxTON pool table in the list above is a tabletop pool table. You can set this type of table on any surface, this allows for easy height adjustment but these tables are typically smaller than stand-alone tables.
Another option you have is getting a folding table. Some people have reported using a folding pool table as a tabletop table when they fold in the legs because after the legs fold in, some of these tables can lay flat on the ground.
Table Size
The size of the table is the next factor I would consider. I don’t feel the size of the table is a deal-breaker either way, especially if you’re just using the table to teach them how to hold a stick before promoting them to an adult table. However, there are many different table sizes and if you get the right size your child will be able to fully learn on that table before promoting to an adult table.
If the table is too small, they won’t truly learn how to shoot but if it’s too big for their age, they may become unmotivated when they can’t make shots. So having a good middle ground in size is ideal.
Personally, for children 7 or older, that are actually interested in the game of pool, I’d recommend getting a 5-6 foot pool table. This range of pool tables still comes in folding tables and they are a great size to fully learn the game of billiards. The smallest adult tables are 7 feet. So a 6-foot table is a perfect table to prepare them for a real adult table.
Assembly
Most of the tables on this list are very easy to assemble but I felt it’s worth putting on this list because not every parent will have hours to put the table together for their child or help them take it apart and put it back together when their kid finishes playing. Having a table with fast assembly lessens the burden on the parents and allows for a quicker start time upon arrival of the table.
Weight
We can’t forget the weight of the table! Most kids don’t understand that lifting heavy things can hurt themselves for years to come. If they want to move the table, they’ll try with all their might even if it is too heavy for them. So, it’s important to get a table that is relatively light especially if it will need to be stored after each use. We don’t want any kids to have back issues growing up from lifting a table that is too heavy.
Benefits of Billiards for Kids
Billiards is a game that requires a lot of focus and thought, especially when taught correctly. Many pool players just hit the balls and hope they go in but if you teach your child to aim and actually understand how to make balls then you will be training their brain in multiple different areas. Some of those areas include hand-eye coordination, problem-solving, concentration, and focus. These are vital skills for a child to develop and if playing a fun game such as pool can help, that’s amazing.
Hand-Eye Coordination
Having to aim your stick and hit it at the balls on the table helps your hand-eye coordination tremendously. I never made the association when I was younger but I started playing pool seriously at around 7. My hand-eye coordination was amazing through all the sports I ever played. I can’t say billiards is the only reason for this but I can definitely see how playing competitive billiards helped my hand-eye coordination over time.
Problem Solving Skills
Problem Solving is a skill many children don’t develop well but billiards can help with that. When playing billiards, shots aren’t the same, you have to look at the logic behind how balls go in, in order to apply that to each shot. Hitting the ball in the same spot over and over won’t necessarily have the same result. You have to look at where the cue ball is, where the object ball is, and where the target pocket is. Then you have to apply logic, angles, and geometry and figure out how to make it go in the pocket.
These skills are vital to being successful in school and in future careers, so why not get started early and hone your child’s problem-solving skills.
Improves Concentration and Focus
In the 21st century, most kids are glued to their phones. Their world revolves around their phone, from social media to games, or just communicating with friends. Playing billiards is a hobby that makes them unplug from the digital world. They have to focus on the game in front of them. This helps keep your kids grounded and keeps them from getting lost in the digital world.
Making shots in pool isn’t an easy task and it requires a lot of focus especially when you’re learning. Having your kids focus on billiards is a great way to improve their focus and attention span.
Conclusion
Overall billiards is a great hobby that benefits your kids mental health. It’s a social pass time that is present in the real world instead of the digital world that is taking over our lives. If you want to get your kids started in billiards, buying a small pool table for your kid is a great idea. Even if you don’t play pool, it could be a great hobby that the family learns together.
There are tons of options when it comes to buying a pool table but I hope this list has helped you figure out the best option for your children. If you have any questions or would like me to review a specific product, please leave a comment and I’ll get back to you ASAP.
